Russ has been associated with the firm since 1997, and has recently been named a partner of the firm. Prior to joining the firm, he served as a Law Clerk to Associate Justice Reneau Almon of the Alabama Supreme Court. A Jasper native, Russ graduated with honors from Walker High School in 1989, and served as President of the Student Council in his senior year. He earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree in Finance, with a concentration in Banking Administration, from the University of Alabama in May of 1993. Russ attended law school at the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, where he was an Associate Editor of the Cumberland Law Review, and graduated in 1996. While in law school, he served as a Research Assistant to Professor Stephen Ware.

Russ is an Eagle Scout, having received the award in 1985. He is also a Vigil Honor Member of the Order of the Arrow's Aracoma Lodge #481. He currently serves as Chairman of the Mountain District of the Boy Scouts of America Black Warrior Council. Russ enjoys snow-skiing, golf and coaching youth league basketball at Jasper's First Baptist Church, where he is a member and Parliamentarian of the Recreation Committee.
