Senior partner Phillip A. Laird has practiced law in Jasper, Alabama, and the surrounding communities since 1969. Originally from Cordova, Alabama, he graduated from Cordova High School in 1961, earned an Associates Degree from Walker College in 1964 and a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 1966. Phil graduated from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 1969, and was a member of the International Moot Court team in his senior year.

During his professional career, Phil has served as a member of the Alabama Board of Bar Commissioners, the Board of Bar Examiners, the Alabama Supreme Court Committee on Alabama Rules of Civil Procedure, and the Editorial Board of The Alabama Lawyer. He is a member of the Alabama Council of School Board Attorneys, having served as that organization's President in 1985. He is also a member of the American Bar Association, the Walker County Bar Association and the Alabama State Bar, having served on the Board of Governors from 1981-1984.

Phil has been married to the former Nancy Goodwyn for 33 years. They are the proud parents of P. Andrew "Andy" Laird, Wells Laird Park and Matthew Laird, and the grandparents of Miller Park.
